Summary: Great for a Beginner
Comment: This was exactly what I was looking for. If you are like me this will work out great for you. I had ProTools M Box for about a month and could not even figure out how to record a sound. These tutorials walk you through everything in a step by step manner. I am half way through chapter 3 and have begun to get a handle on creating and recording tracks. Exactly what I was looking for.

Summary: Best How to Book Ever
Comment: After trying to work though Pro Tools on my own, I bought this book and was recording ten minutes into the book. Screen Shots of Pro Tool windows keep me from taking my usual trial and error (mostly error) method. I can now lay down tracks bring in a drum track and add enough reverb to make my voice go from almost "just ok" to "wow that reverb almost makes your voice sound good". This is the best how to book I've ever used and is a must have for learning the power of Pro Tools.

Summary: Home Studio Rookie
Comment: I recently took the plunge, and invested in a small home recording studio. Being MUCH more a musician than an engineer, I found myself really struggling with the technical aspects of using the Pro Tools software. It looked like it would be a really long slog toward getting to the point where I could understand how to use the tools and focus more on actually recording my music. I'm so glad I found this book! It's written in a clear, engaging style and the layout of the visual aids is outstanding. I got through about half of the lessons over the course of two weekends---and can see I will soon have a solid, working understanding of pro tools basics. In my opinion, this book should be considered essential reading for anyone new to using pro tools. I checked out other guides and a variety of online resources--and nothing, in my view, matched the clarity of this lesson manual. Highly Recommended!

Summary: Awesome!
Comment: There is so much to ProTools, Gina puts it into perspective! Her writing style is outstanding, and if you are like me who thinks the technical instructions and white papers seem to require a degree, this book is for you! I am currently on Chapter 5 and in one week, I have surpassed what I learned on my own with the "manual". Her additional downloads and assistance goes above and beyond!
As far as a response to the previous "click track" comment, with respect. I have talked to several studio musicians, and they all say they record with a click track, drummer, pianist, and guitarist.
If Gina comes out with an "advanced" ProTools guide, I will purchase it immediately!

Summary: Great tutorials - Note: Doesn't include film
Comment: I bought this book because I needed to learn to use Pro Tools fast and because I learn best through tutorials (like the Apple Pro Training Series books). This book got great reviews so I chose it. Unfortunately, I need to learn Pro Tools in reference to working with film soundtracks. This book doesn't address film so you'll need to look for another book if you want that aspect. I still gave it five stars because it is a very well designed and well written book - similar to the Apple Pro series. The tutorials make sense and all of those 'but what about' questions that often pop into your head while working in tutorials are answered. Concepts are clearly explained so that you can actually apply what you learn to other situations within the software. The focus of the book is on live recordings and working with loops. If that is what you are looking for this book is A+ and I kept it as a valuable reference for my library.
